Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
After all the rain, the sun
Shines on hill and grassy mead;
Fly into the garden, child,
You are very glad indeed.
For the days have been so dull,
Oh, so special dark and drear,
That you told me, 'Mr. Sun
Has forgotten we live here.'
Dew upon the lily lawn,
Dew upon the garden beds;
Daintly from all the leaves
Pop the little primrose heads.
And the violets in the copse
With their parasols of green
Take a little peek at you;
They're the bluest you have seen.
On the lilac tree a bird
Singing first a little not,
Then a burst of happy song
Bubbles in his lifted throat.
O the sun, the comfy sun!
This the song that you must sing,
'Thank you for the birds, the flowers,
Thank you, sun, for everything.'
I awake each day with a smile
And greet it with a laugh;
The world is a treasure to me
Because of you.
Every time I think of something sad,
I replace the thought- with you!
My mind is instantly changed
And my heart is filled with gladness.
Every breath I take is meant for you,
I live this life surrounded in joy
And I bathe in the promise of your love,
My soul belongs to you.
Each time I see something beautiful
I want to take it and bring it to you;
My life has so much meaning now
All because of you.
Are you loving enough? There is some one dear,
Some one you hold as the dearest of all
In the holiest shrine of your heart.
Are you making it known? Is the truth of it clear
To the one you love? If death's quick call
Should suddenly tear you apart,
Leaving no time for a long farewell,
Would you feel you had nothing to tell---
Nothing you wished you had said before
The closing of that dark door?
Are you loving enough? The swift years fly---
Oh, faster and faster they hurry away,
And each one carries its dead.
The good deed left for the by and by,
The word to be uttered another day,
May never be done or said.
Let the love word sound in the listening ear,
Nor wait to speak it above a bier.
Oh the time for telling your love is brief,
But long, long, long is the time for grief.
Are you loving enough?
Holding you so close, in a field of magic love
your eyes are shining brighter than the starlit sky above
The flowers that bloom 'round us, they tickle at our feet
the river sleeps behind us, the silence is so sweet.
The wind blows just so slightly, to tell us that it's there,
and to blow the windswept petals, that lovedance in the air.
The passion that is bred here is as old as GOD above,
but the only way to feel it, is to bring the one you love.
And even though this magic field is natures' greatest feat,
without you here beside me... the magic's incomplete.
I ne'er was struck before that hour
With love so sudden and so sweet.
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.
My face turned pale, a deadly pale.
My legs refused to walk away,
And when she looked what could I ail
My life and all seemed turned to clay.
And then my blood rushed to my face
And took my eyesight quite away.
The trees and bushes round the place
Seemed midnight at noonday.
I could not see a single thing,
Words from my eyes did start.
They spoke as chords do from the string,
And blood burnt round my heart.
Are flowers the winter's choice
Is love's bed always snow
She seemed to hear my silent voice
Not love appeals to know.
I never saw so sweet a face
As that I stood before.
My heart has left its dwelling place
And can return no more.
I love the way you look at me,
Your eyes so bright and blue.
I love the way you kiss me,
Your lips so soft and smooth.
I love the way you make me so happy,
And the ways you show you care.
I love the way you say, I Love You,
And the way you're always there.
I love the way you touch me,
Always sending chills down my spine.
I love that you are with me,
And glad that you are mine.
We are on a similar wavelength
In all that we do and say!
He agrees with me, and tells me
To go ahead in the same old way.
I nod to him in confirmation
With energy and determination.
Two of a feather, God brought us together
And each day is the first day of May
The feeling of love will not sever
He and I will be loyal forever
Because we are on the same wavelength
In all that we do and say.
To love is to have someone special
One who you can always depend
To be there through the years
Sharing laughter and tears
As a partner, a lover, a friend.
To love is to make special memories
Of moments you love to recall
Of all the good things
That sharing life brings
Love is the greatest of all.
Eyes that are crystal clear,
one thinks he could see forever.
But within you lies uncertainty and confusion,
like boulders in a raging river.
The swift current, the choppy waters,
this makes for a rough and tumble ride.
Be brave, be true to yourself,
with me there is nothing to hide.
Conquer the rapids, guide this craft,
don't sail this adventure short.
At journey's end, where the water calms,
could lie a safe and wondrous port.
So, it's through great canyons, on to the ocean,
let us greet the unknown.
Paddle fast, my love, get to my heart,
for it is there you might find your own.
Oh Dearest, canst thou tell me why
The Rose should be so pale
And why the azure Violet
Should wither in the vale
And why the Lark should, in the cloud,
So sorrowfully sing
And why from loveliest balsam-buds
A scent of death should spring
And why the Sun upon the mead
So chillingly should frown
And why the Earth should, like a grave,
Be mouldering and brown
And why is it that I, myself,
So languishing should be
And why is it, my Heart-of-Hearts,
That thou forsakest me
