Sad Poems

I would cry, but the tears don’t come.
My heart is too full of sorrow
To be let out this way.

I would cry, but the drought persists,
My eyes unable to express –
Parched, blocked; my throat just as grey…

I would cry, but it won’t make sense
Trying to let the grief flow,
For I’d still be forever brimming with dismay.

I would cry, for my heart is broke’,
Fragments damp with blood,
It laments silently, repeatedly, and I have naught to say…

I would cry, but I’m too numb
With shock. Destroyed – devastated,
From love that was never expected to fray…

I would cry, but it would serve no real purpose
Make no difference to anyone – even me;
Just make me beg for some good soul to take me far away…

Feeling low, are we? Well, there is a wonderful way of relieving yourself of the pain that destiny has so unfairly bestowed upon you – poetry. Just as you can write when you are happy and delirious with joy, or filled with unimaginable rage, you can also write when you are feeling extremely unhappy about some event or the other that has taken place in your life, making it miserable to live through, at least for the moment. In fact, you don’t really need a cause either. There are some times when you might feel cheerless and gloomy for no conscious reason at all, and then it becomes difficult to explain to anyone.

At such times, writing sad poems is the best way of reducing the pain and letting it flow onto paper instead. You can pour your heart out – all your troubles, miseries, secrets – everything, and that too without revealing too much about it all if you don’t wish to, through the play of words. Writing sad poems is quite a joy in itself. Whether it is about a problem you are facing or the loss of someone close and dear to you, you can express all your feelings through a forlorn, sad poem.

Sad poems are stress-busters; they relieve you of the emotional burden and stress that causes all the trouble, and, if nothing, give you strength to face the situation by taking away some of the pain and making an unbearable condition bearable.

In fact, once you are out of those particular circumstances, you will be amazed at how beautifully you can write when you just pull out one of these sad poems while cleaning up your desk drawer. It will please you no end to witness the power of your words, and for all we know, you might even start crying when you read your sad poem. And once you are in the right mindset, you could even set tune to your sad poem, transforming it into a beautiful, sad little song, an achievement you will be proud of.

However, if you are in no mood to sit and write a sad poem on your own, you can go through some of the innumerable ones present on the internet. Apart from giving you something else to concentrate on, these sad poems will also help you understand and relate well to the poet’s feelings, and comprehend the true depth of the poem. This will make you a better and worthier patron of literary art, if nothing else.

Whatever your miserable need, sad poems can never let you down; they will, in fact, lift you up and beyond your grief, whether you write them in your own hand, or plunge yourself in those written by others.
